Santas Gather in Denmark

2_162852_1_248.jpgWith their busy season months away, Santas from all over are relaxing at the annual Christmas in July Santa Claus World Congress in Denmark.

The three-day gathering at the Bakken amusement park in Copenhagen attracts about 150 Santas each year, The Copenhagen Post reports. On Tuesday, the second day of the gathering, the Santas went to downtown Copenhagen to wade in the harbor and accept contributions of toys for children with cancer from shopkeepers.

Sebastian Klein of Denmark is to be honored as the 2007 Santa Claus of the Year for his children’s shows and his work with Save the Children when the group holds its Gala Christmas Ball Wednesday at Bakken.

The gathering’s co-sponsors include Santa Claus of Greenland and the Danish Santa Claus Guild.
