New Gadgets Line up for Christmas Release

Eager electronic fans and gamers could very well have a Merry Christmas this year. Microsoft has already announced the launch of Kinect, their motion sensing technology that basically plays like a Wii without a remote. Apple has their new iPhone technology on standby to stuff stockings and now Nintendo is rumored to be launching their 3DS handheld game somewhere around the third weekend of November in the US. For adults and bookworms, a price war has launched early with electronic book readers as Barnes and Noble’s Nook and Amazon’s Kindle are already priced below $200 for the first time in history (they’re already calling this the bookreader Christmas). Expect more announcements as we get closer to all the news in coming months about Black Friday 2010.

But also be aware of the traditional cycle of these things. Just because you hear the hype doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to get one of these devices.

The usual game means several months of promotion and press releases. Then will come the ecstatic product reviews. A few retailers will advertise hot pricing followed by the tiny disclaimer print of limited quantities. And then will come the reports of disappointed consumers, black market product knock-offs and eBay opportunists. It happens over and over again.

It is what Christmas and electronics are all about.
